How do I withdraw and transfer funds between my Funding and Trading accounts for X-Perps?
Follow the steps below to transfer funds between your Funding and Trading accounts on OKX, and to initiate a withdrawal.
The split between your Funding and Trading accounts isn't specific to X-Perps. If your funds sit in the Funding account, they also won't be available for spot orders, trigger orders, or margin orders — the same transfer step applies.
What is the difference between the Funding account and Trading account in X-Perps?
On OKX, your balance may be organised across different account types depending on product use, account mode, and platform configuration.
Funding account: used for deposits, withdrawals, and general asset holding
Trading account: used for active trading, including X-Perps order placement
Before you can place X-Perps orders, your funds must be in the Trading account.
Why can't I see a Transfer button or two separate accounts?
Not every account shows a separate Funding account and Trading account. The split — and the Transfer option used to move funds between them — appears once you've opened your derivatives (X-Perps) account and completed the appropriateness assessment. Before that, your balance sits in a single account and there's nothing to transfer between. If you can't find a Transfer option, or you only see one balance:
check whether you've opened your derivatives (X-Perps) account and completed the appropriateness assessment
open Assets (the icon in the top-right corner on web, or Assets / Portfolio in the app) — Transfer sits under it
check whether the funds are held in a sub-account rather than your main account
In either case your funds aren't missing. They're in your account and available for the products your account is currently set up for.
Why don't the mode names in older guides match what I see?
OKX currently offers Simple mode and Exchange mode. Older guides and forum posts may use different mode names, so a step written for an older name won't always match your screen. Check which mode you're in before you follow steps from an outside source — see How do I trade X-Perps in Simple mode?.
Why do transfers between accounts matter for X-Perps trading?
If your funds are in the Funding account but your X-Perps orders require a Trading account balance, your orders will be rejected — even if you can see a balance in your account. This is one of the most common reasons for “insufficient margin” errors when placing X-Perps orders.
What are the common situations where I need to transfer between accounts for X-Perps trading?
A transfer may be required when:
funds were recently deposited and remain in the Funding account
you moved assets for withdrawal or holding and now want to trade
your available balance appears in one account type, but X-Perps requires the other
Before troubleshooting order settings, first confirm that the funds are in the correct account.
What should I check before placing an X-Perps order?
Before placing an order, review:
which account currently holds your funds (Funding vs Trading)
whether your balance is marked as available for trading
whether any funds are tied to open orders or positions — an open position, an unfilled limit order, a running trading bot, or an outstanding margin loan all reduce your available balance. Cancel the open orders, stop the bot, close the position, or repay the loan and its interest to release the funds
whether a transfer between accounts is required and has been completed

Transfers between your own Funding and Trading accounts are internal to OKX and free of charge. There's no automatic transfer between the two accounts, so move the funds yourself each time you need them for trading. If a currency you hold doesn't appear in the transfer dialog, the options shown depend on your account and the products it's set up for. Check the currency in Assets first, and use Convert if you need to change it into a currency your order is quoted in.
My balance still shows as zero after I transferred. What should I check?
Refresh. Reload the page on web, or close and reopen the app, then go back to the trading screen. The balance panel doesn't always update in place.
Check the transfer completed. Open Assets and review your transfer history to confirm the transfer went through and landed in the Trading account.
Check your settlement currency, if you're trading USD-margined futures. Go to your sub-account > Trade settings > USD-M settlement currency. If you haven't made a selection, USD is used by default, so a USDC or USDG balance isn't recognised as margin and your available amount shows as 0. You can't change this setting while you have open orders or positions — cancel or close them first. See FAQ on USD-margined futures contracts.
Check the currency. An order can only draw on the currency it's quoted in. A cash balance can't fund an order quoted in a different asset — use Convert or the order book to change currency first.
Check your open orders and positions. Funds committed to an unfilled order, an open position, or a trading bot aren't available for anything else until you cancel, close, or stop them.
Check your sub-accounts. Funds held in a sub-account don't show in your main account balance.
If a third-party portfolio tracker shows a different split of your assets to what you see on OKX, treat the OKX app and website as the source of truth. External tools read your balances over the API and may group OKX account types in their own way. Contact that provider if you need their view corrected.
How do I withdraw funds from my X-Perps account?
Withdrawals on OKX are handled through the Withdraw flow and are typically initiated from the Funding account.
On the app
Go to Assets / Portfolio
Select Withdraw.
Select the asset and destination (on-chain withdrawal or internal transfer).
Review the source account used for the withdrawal
Complete any required verification steps and tap Confirm to submit.
On the web
Go to Assets
Select Withdraw.
Choose the asset and destination
Review the source account
Complete any required verification steps and tap Confirm to submit.
Why does this matter to X-Perps users?
If your balance is currently being used for trading activity, margin, or open orders/positions, it may not be fully available for withdrawal until those funds are released or transferred.
A visible balance does not always equal immediately withdrawable balance.
