My account says, “We need to know more about you.” What should I do?
This request asks you to confirm:
How you use your account
Where the money or crypto used on OKX came from
How you accumulated your personal wealth
Any other information requested in the task
This request is different from identity verification. Receiving it does not, by itself, mean that you have done anything wrong.
1. Open the Official Task and Check Its Status
Open the banner or task from the OKX homepage, identity verification page, Task Centre, in-app notification, or official email.
Not started or incomplete: Answer every required question and upload the requested documents.
Submitted or under review: If no new action is shown, do not repeatedly upload the same files. Monitor the task page and your registered email.
Returned or rejected: Open the stated reason, correct the specific issue, and submit a new or updated document.
No task is visible: Check the homepage, identity verification page, Task Centre, notifications, and spam folder. If your account still shows an outstanding requirement, contact official support and provide the exact page message and a screenshot.
2. Choose Answers Based on Your Real Situation
Source of Funds
Source of Funds (SoF) means where the specific money or crypto used on OKX came from. Examples include:
Salary
Business income
Investment returns
A loan
The sale of an asset
A gift
Inheritance
A transfer from your own exchange account or wallet
Select the recent and main source of the money used on OKX.
Source of Wealth
Source of Wealth (SoW) means how you accumulated most of your overall personal wealth or net assets over time. Examples include:
Employment income
Business ownership
Investments
Inheritance
Gifts
Select the source that represents the largest part of your personal wealth.
Your Source of Funds and Source of Wealth may be the same, but they do not have to be.
If a Singapore page offers the option “My source of wealth is the same as my source of funds,” select it only when the same genuine activity explains both. If the sources differ, select them separately.
If the task asks for your expected deposit volume, choose the range that genuinely reflects your expected future activity. Your latest submitted answer replaces the previously submitted expected-deposit information.
3. Understand the Difference Between Personal and Company Funds
Company sales, customer payments, factory receipts, invoices, and company bank statements normally explain a company’s activities. On their own, they do not show how the money became your personal income or wealth.
If the company pays you a salary or commission, select Salary or Employment income and provide personal evidence of those payments.
If your wealth comes from owning the company, select Business ownership and provide ownership records together with evidence showing how the value or income reached you.
If a spouse, family member, or friend gave you money without requiring repayment, select Inheritance, grant or gift, where available, and provide the transfer record and an explanation.
4. Common Supporting Documents
Salary or Employment Income
Provide one or more recent documents, such as:
Payslips
A personal bank statement showing salary or commission credits
A salary certificate
An employment letter showing your name, employer, position, and compensation
Business Ownership or Business Income
Provide business registration or ownership records together with one or more of the following:
A business bank statement
A tax return
An audited financial statement
An accountant’s letter
A dividend or profit-distribution record
Evidence showing how the business income reached you
A business licence alone may show that the business exists, but it may not establish the source of the funds or prove that you received them.
Investment Returns
Provide one or more of the following:
A brokerage or investment statement
A dividend or interest notice
A tax record
A bank statement showing the proceeds
A transfer record, where required
Another Exchange or Self-Custodial Wallet
Provide evidence that you own the account or wallet, together with transaction history showing the transfer to OKX.
Where available, include:
Platform name
Bound name, email address, or phone number
Wallet address
Transaction TxID
Asset
Amount
Date
A Transaction TxID alone may not prove ownership or establish the original source of the assets.
Mining, Staking, Airdrops, or On-Chain Rewards
Provide the relevant platform, pool, dashboard, payout, or on-chain record, together with evidence showing that the assets reached your OKX account.
Equipment receipts may support a mining explanation, but they do not replace payout and transfer records.
Sale of Property, a Vehicle, or Another Asset
Provide one or more official sale documents, such as:
A completed sale agreement
An invoice
A receipt
A legal letter
Another official sale record
You must also provide a bank statement or payment record showing that you received the proceeds.
An unsigned agreement, or a payment record that does not explain what was sold, may not be sufficient.
Gift or Family Support
Provide the transfer record and a declaration stating:
The exact amount
The date
The reason
The frequency
The donor’s full name
The donor’s relationship to you
For transfers made through a payment app, provide the official electronic receipt where available.
Inheritance
Provide one or more of the following:
A will
A grant of probate
An inheritance certificate
An estate-distribution statement
A tax record
Another official legal document
You must also provide evidence showing that you received the funds.
Loan or Credit
Provide a signed loan agreement or account statement showing:
Your name
The lender
The amount
The date received
The repayment terms
You must also provide evidence that you received the funds.
A credit-card statement alone may not be sufficient. A loan that prohibits the use of funds for digital assets or investments cannot support that activity.
Government Benefits, Pension, Settlement, or Insurance Payout
Provide one or more of the following:
An official benefit or pension statement
A government letter
A settlement or court record
An insurance payout letter
A bank statement showing the payment
The document should identify you, the provider, the amount, the reason, and the date.
5. Document Quality and Validity
Unless the task or an entity-specific section states otherwise, Source of Funds documents should generally have been issued within:
Six months for EEA accounts
Three months for non-EEA accounts
The task page provides the definitive requirements. Tax returns, sale agreements, inheritance records, and other event-based documents may have different validity periods.
Submit a complete, readable, unlocked original PDF, scan, or clear photo. Do not crop:
Names
Headers
Dates
Amounts
Signatures
Stamps
Transaction details
Page numbers
Screenshots are accepted only when the task allows them for that document type and they clearly show ownership and activity.
6. Common Rejection Reasons
A document may be returned if:
It is unrelated to the selected source type
Ownership cannot be confirmed
Pages or required information are missing
Details are blurry
Salary, employer, or source information is missing
The selected source does not match the document
The file is password-protected
The document appears to have been edited
Official authentication is missing
The document is older than the required period
Correct the stated issue instead of uploading the same unchanged file.
7. Review Time and Account Availability
Review time depends on:
The information submitted
Document quality
Whether additional checks are required
Complete any new task shown on the page.
The availability of trading, deposit, and withdrawal functions depends on your account’s current status. Restrictions cannot be bypassed while a required task remains incomplete.
Your recorded balance will not disappear because the review is pending.
8. What If the Funds in My Account Are Company Assets?
If your OKX account is a personal account rather than a corporate account, select the option that accurately describes the actual source and ownership of the funds.
Company documents may explain how a business earns money, but they may not establish your personal Source of Funds or Source of Wealth.
If company or third-party funds were transferred through a personal account:
Explain your relationship with the company or third party.
Submit the documents requested on the task page.
Do not select Salary unless the funds are genuine employment income paid to you.
You should also:
Provide official documents verifying your actual income, such as payslips.
Clearly explain the following in the Additional Background Information section:
Who owns the main funds in the account
How the funds were transferred to you
Why the funds were deposited into your account
Once your complete documentation is received, your case can be reviewed and tailored assistance can be provided.
Other Relationships With the Company
Select the appropriate option based on your actual relationship with the company.
If you are a shareholder, legal representative, or partner and receive dividends or equity-related income: Select Business Ownership and submit official documents such as the company’s business licence, proof of shareholding, dividend or income records, and company income statements.
If you hold multiple roles: For example, if you are both a shareholder and a salaried employee, please submit the supporting documents applicable to each source of income. In addition.
In the Additional Background Information section, clearly explain:
Who owns the main funds in the account
How the funds were transferred to you
Why the funds were deposited into your account
Once your complete documentation is received, your case can be reviewed and tailored assistance can be provided.
